While sponsors act as a personal reference, they are not mandatory to become a member. All new applicants meet with our membership committee prior to their application being brought to the board.

We request membership dues as part of our membership application. Your membership will be activated the day that you are approved (you will receive an email).

You will receive a full refund in the event your application is not approved.

Depending on when you apply and meet with our membership committee, you can expect to wait about a month to be informed of your application status. The Portland Club Board of Directors meets on the second Wednesday of every month, during which our membership committee presents all new member applications to be voted on.

Members are welcome to bring guests to the club. We kindly ask that guests pay a $10 parlor fee, and to consider applying for membership after visiting more than five times in a calendar year.

Yes, we encourage all prospective members to have a tour of the building. Please reach out to us if you are looking to tour the space.

Members are encouraged to use the billiard room for events, and there is no fee so long as the space is still open to other members. The billiard room is available for your party’s exclusive and private use in exchange for a room fee.

As a member, you have access to the club every day during our regular building hours. Members have exclusive use of the full 2nd floor and its amenities.

Amenities include (but are not limited to):

  • 5 classic pool tables and 1 billiard table
  • Member exclusive wet bar with 2 keg taps
  • 16′ Shuffleboard Table
  • Foosball table
  • Cornhole
  • Bluetooth sound system
  • WiFi access
  • 100″ Projector with DirectTV access including all major sports packages and HDMI hookup.
  • Liquor lockers (available for an additional $100 a year) to store non-perishable items

Additionally, members are welcome to park in the club’s private lot while utilizing the space.

We host several events year-round. We have monthly member events (more commonly referred to as Thirsty Thursday) where complimentary food and a freshly tapped keg are provided.

Additionally, we also hold a handful of tastings with local businesses, a member-wide annual meeting which is then followed by our Kentucky Derby party, an annual Halloween party and so much more.

We are so happy you asked! The Portland Club is completely volunteer-based. We have multiple committees for members to join including our events committee, membership committee, and housing committee.

Looking to get involved more? Consider running for a board of directors position! We have 15 directors (including six executive officer roles) that meet once a month to discuss club-related business. Directors serve a three-year term, while officers serve for one year.
